SFBR Diversion Project
Public Involvement

An evaluation of potential project alternatives and associated environmental impacts is required to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations. The evaluation will be documented in the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The US Forest Service (USFS) is the Lead Federal Agency making the NEPA decision, specifically, the Mountain Home Ranger District on the Boise National Forest.

Public participation is a cornerstone of NEPA and highly valued to the USFS and Elmore County leadership. The Elmore County Commissioners recently conducted a survey to understand the community’s current understanding of the water issues in the region and the level of support for potential solutions. More than 1,145 people participated in the survey between March through December of 2023. You can view the community’s responses in the two reports below.
